Description

This is no Farmoor, Otmoor or Port Meadow. This is Grimsbury. It's Grim up north!

There is a running total year list in the link above.

Please send in your bird sightings to the B.O.S. and/or to me directly for inclusion on the blog. If you have some photos you would like to contribute please let me know (contact via the comments box on the right if you do not have my email already). Thank you.

14th Jun 2026: Egyptian Geese

On Friday Clive had 2 Egyptian Geese on the reservoir that are new for the year. Otherwise no other notable bird news.

I've been keeping an eye out for orchids again and have now seen some of the unidentified Marsh species (or possibly MarshxCommon Spotted hybrids), quite a lot of Common Spotted and a couple of Pyramidal. No sign of any Bee Orchids again this year but no thorough search for them either, so hopefully there are some unseen in a quiet corner.

7th Jun 2026

It's been a fairly quiet couple of weeks really. The only notable bird sightings have been a probable Cattle Egret seen flying over on 25th and an Oystercatcher seen on the 30th, both by John Beak.

There has been a fair few Painted Lady butterflies around and more odonata.
