Description

This is no Farmoor, Otmoor or Port Meadow. This is Grimsbury. It's Grim up north!

There is a running total year list in the link above.

Please send in your bird sightings to the B.O.S. and/or to me directly for inclusion on the blog. If you have some photos you would like to contribute please let me know (contact via the comments box on the right if you do not have my email already). Thank you.

16th August 2026: Yellow-legged Gull

Friday morning Clive had a couple of Common Terns for a short while when he arrived but the soon departed.

Yesterday there were at least 3 Clouded Yellows up the valley around the Borrow Pit pool and there are good numbers of Migrant Hawkers now. We've still only seen a few Willow Emeralds and a few Southern Hawkers, but unless we get something unusual that is all the usual odonata seen.

This morning a Yellow-legged Gull was (surprisingly late in the year) a new one for the year list. There has been at a Common Sandpiper around and quite a few Yellow Wagtails passing through, with at least 4 this morning at one time this morning but several others over in ones or twos too.
