Description

This is no Farmoor, Otmoor or Port Meadow. This is Grimsbury. It's Grim up north!

There is a running total year list in the link above.

Please send in your bird sightings to the B.O.S. and/or to me directly for inclusion on the blog. If you have some photos you would like to contribute please let me know (contact via the comments box on the right if you do not have my email already). Thank you.

28th Jun 2026

Summer has arrived and we've had some sweltering conditions during a heat wave. The birding has generally been, as it is expected to be, quite quiet. However, there are some summer movements of post breeding birds already. There are the inverts to keep us entertained too.

On the 16th I had a walk around the UCV part of the patch and had 7 singing Reed Warblers. It wasn't that long ago we had the first regular territorial males and now there are easily double figures. This year seems especially good, with many singing from new locations/territories.

On the 21st I had a Siskin over the reservoir and a returning Common Sandpiper and yesterday there was a Little Ringed Plover and 2 Common Sandpipers.
