Description

This is no Farmoor, Otmoor or Port Meadow. This is Grimsbury. It's Grim up north!

There is a running total year list in the link above.

Please send in your bird sightings to the B.O.S. and/or to me directly for inclusion on the blog. If you have some photos you would like to contribute please let me know (contact via the comments box on the right if you do not have my email already). Thank you.

02nd May 2015: Dunlin

A quick visit late morning revealed very little of note. There was a good number of hirundines with the majority being House Martins, the first Mallard ducklings of the year were along the river and a Common Sandpiper was at the Borrow Pit pool in the Upper Cherwell Valley.

Steve Holliday managed to break the monotony of recent days by finding a Dunlin that had turned up this afternoon. A nice summer plumaged bird. He also had a Grey Wagtail collecting food and eight Great Crested Grebes.

I was happy to see the Dunlin still present this evening. I tried for pictures but most are at least partly blurry as it was very busy feeding and hardly stayed still for a second! It had also been joined by two Little Ringed Plovers.
