Description

This is no Farmoor, Otmoor or Port Meadow. This is Grimsbury. It's Grim up north!

There is a running total year list in the link above.

Please send in your bird sightings to the B.O.S. and/or to me directly for inclusion on the blog. If you have some photos you would like to contribute please let me know (contact via the comments box on the right if you do not have my email already). Thank you.

17 Jan 2021: Redpoll, Yellowhammer and Lapwing

Most of the 'usual' bits and bobs around this week. On Monday Mike had three Pochard still at the Borrow Pit and on Wednesday the female Stonechat still at the reservoir.

On Friday, Adrian, Mike C and Mike P were all out and confirmed a Stonechat still at the reservoir, three Pochard still and now two pairs of Stonechat at the Borrow Pit. There was also 20 Wigeon, 12 Teal and 28 Mute Swans on the UCV floods just north of the Borrow Pit.

Yesterday the number of Wigeon up the valley went up to 30. Mark also had a drake Pochard, female Wigeon and Little Grebe all at the reservoir.

This morning the Little Grebe was still on the reservoir and a pair of Goosanders flew over. Up the valley I couldn't find any of the more interesting ducks, but had a Yellowhammer and a Lesser Redpoll flyover. Mike P later had a Lapwing over the Borrow Pit and two Stonechats again.
