Description

This is no Farmoor, Otmoor or Port Meadow. This is Grimsbury. It's Grim up north!

There is a running total year list in the link above.

Please send in your bird sightings to the B.O.S. and/or to me directly for inclusion on the blog. If you have some photos you would like to contribute please let me know (contact via the comments box on the right if you do not have my email already). Thank you.

4th Oct 2026: Glossy Ibis!

It's been quite a good week with a few new birds for the year.

On Wednesday morning, with the wind switched around to the south-east, a Rock Pipit was on the western bank for a short while before flying off high to the north-west. A Peregrine also flew over.

The next morning a Hobby cruised through to the east, a good bird to catch up with as they have seemed tricky to see here for a few years now. There was also good numbers of Meadow Pipits and Skylarks going over, several Chiffchaff and a Blackcap.

Friday morning Clive found a Common Sandpiper, saw a Kingfisher and had 16 Swallow through. In the afternoon JFT and I had a catch up and as we were leaving a Glossy Ibis flew over south - south-east along the river!
